Nature Vista is the business name of photographer Roger Foisy of Tucson, Arizona.

Roger’s interest in photography began during his late teen years with the use of a Minolta SLR and B/W film.  This interest continued throughout his adult life as he pursued his professional career and moved to different areas of the country, both urban and rural. He has resided in Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.  Over the years, Roger made the transition from B/W film to color film and transparencies, and eventually to digital.

Roger’s self taught skills in photography were developed through his independent study of books on photography techniques and practices.  These skills were enhanced through attendance at several location based workshops sponsored by the Canon Learning Center and the Arizona Highways Photoscapes.  He also attended several photography themed workshops at the Art Institute of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona.

Nature Vista derives from Roger’s deep respect for and appreciation of the natural world that surrounds us and which is the primary subject of his photography.  This appreciation began early in his life while growing up in a rural part of Pennsylvania and spending a lot of time outdoors.  His appreciation of the natural world was further rooted in his psyche by living through the end of the counter-culture revolution and the “Back to Nature” movement of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

Common definitions and interpretations of Vista are that it pertains to a view or expansive scene and may include outlook and perspective.  Through his photography, Roger endeavors to demonstrate for the viewer his unique perspective on the beauty of the natural world.  Roger’s photographic images span the range from grand landscapes to micro-scapes, and, from the detailed to the abstract.  Roger’s work seeks to find new perspectives on nature by expressing its beauty through attention to the “quality” of light, the subtleties of color, form, and texture, and, to capturing fleeting moments.

The Nature Vista logo, which Roger designed, was inspired by the view from his house in Tucson as discerned in this image.
